Wachesaw Plantation Club is consistently recognized as the premier golf course in an area that boasts over 100 courses.
Awards include Best in the Myrtle Beach area by Golf Digest, Golf Week Magazine’s Top 100 Residential Golf Courses in America, South Carolina Golf Association’s Club of the Year, and Golf Week and Golf Digest repeated recognition as among the best courses in South Carolina. But perhaps most insightful is that, having played courses all over the world, John Lopez, President of South Carolina Golf Association and Gary L. Schaal, Past President of the PGA of America and Golf Hall of Fame inductee have chosen to live and play here. Gary observes “Tom Fazio really got it right – Wachesaw Plantation Club uniquely provides a challenging, yet enjoyable golf experience for players of all levels. It is a breathtaking and amazing course with many interesting and memorable holes that you never tire of playing.”
An important characteristic of the golf experience at Wachesaw Plantation Club is the openness and willingness of our Members to embrace new Members into their groups. Whether a scratch or high handicap golfer, there are numerous groups that welcome new Members at any time and no one is ever excluded . . . just call the golf shop and sign up.
Crafted by internationally acclaimed Tom Fazio, the course was designed to take advantage of the site’s inherent beauty and interesting elevation changes not typically found in the Carolina Low Country. The fairways are thoughtfully designed to weave through the giant oaks, with beautiful homes unobtrusively tucked out of the way in the wooded landscape. The elevation changes, along with spectacular water and sand hazards, complemented by the unexpected rolling fairways lined with love-grass knolls and grass bunkers, all contribute to the diversity that makes for such an enjoyable, engaging, and never boring experience.
The best is saved until last when you step onto the tee of the par 5 finishing hole. Long recognized as one of the best and most dramatic on the entire East Coast, starting high atop a bluff carrying a water hazard, it finishes in dramatic style at the banks of the Waccamaw River. It was recently ranked as the hardest finishing hole on the Grand Strand by the South Carolina Golf Association.
