Golf at PGA WEST
Nine Iconic Courses, One Legendary Location
The pros have played these fabled links for over 35 years. Now it’s your turn. Tucked into the majestic mountains, this Palm Springs golf resort boasts 5 resort courses and 4 private courses, each offering a unique desert golf experience. Every course features multiple tee boxes for varying skill levels and spacious practice facilities. Unlike anywhere in the world, all of our course architects represent the best of the best in golf: Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Tom Weiskopf and Pete Dye.
Resort & Members-Only Golf Opportunities
Come play in the footsteps of greatness for a day or a lifetime. Symbolized by Coral Mountain which rises from the shell-laden desert floor bearing the distinct markings of an ancient ocean, the designs of nature and golf visionaries now rule this once submerged paradise. At our Palm Springs golf resort you can play a different course every day of the week!
Private Courses at PGA WEST
Pete Dye Citrus
In true Pete Dye form, he designed the Members-only Citrus Course where groves of the Club’s signature citrus trees line the fairway. Embraced by the visual starkness of the Santa Rosa Mountains, you’ll find lush terrain and impeccably manicured greens juxtaposed with numerous water hazards and sand bunkers, a Pete Dye trademark.
Jack Nicklaus
At 6,951 yards long (modest by today’s standards), the Nicklaus Private Course has the highest stroke (74.3) and slope (146) ratings of the three Private Courses at PGA WEST.
This course is known to challenge the best of players with its elevated tees, sunken fairways, blind shots and severely contoured shaped greens.
Once ranked among the “Top 100 Courses in the World,” the Nicklaus Private will take you from peaceful tranquility to stern test from the very beginning to the very end.
Tom Weiskopf
Tom Weiskopf delivers a touch of Scottish links play as you encounter two replicas of the famous Swilcan Bridge (“The Old Course”) from the first tee box.
Nine holes outward and nine inward cover 7,164 yards (par 72) of generous fairways and large, receptive greens.
Opened in 1996 as the Club’s final private tract, the Weiskopf’s stunning panoramic views of the valley beyond complete a perfect trifecta of private play for Members and guests. Although it is Weiskopf’s only venture into golf design in the Palm Springs area, it is considered a favorite among those who love the game of golf.
Arnold Palmer
The Arnold Palmer Private Course recently made its inaugural appearance in Golf Digest’s 2023 “Best Golf Courses in California.” With five finishing holes artfully sculpted along the rugged Santa Rosa Mountains, Hall-of-Fame Professional Golfer Arnold Palmer has designed a truly tournament-worthy course.
Known for David Duval’s 1999 win with a final round, course record 59, the tournament boasts many big name winners such as Mark Wilson (2012), Bill Haas (2010), Phil Mickelson (2002,2004), Fred Couples (1998) Jack Nicklaus (1963) and Mr. Palmer himself, winning a record five times (1960, 62, 68, 71, 73).

Pete Dye Stadium Course
When golf enthusiasts think of PGA WEST®, it is often the Pete Dye Stadium Course that first comes to mind. Rated by Golf Digest as one of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” (2023-2024), there may be no greater challenge or excitement in the game of golf. At 7,300 yards, the Stadium Course has the highest stroke (76.1) and slope (150) ratings of all the courses at PGA WEST®. With five sets of tees, the Stadium is playable for all skill levels.
The Stadium Course delivers multiple adrenaline rushes throughout the round. On the back nine, golfers must navigate the island green of hole #17, known as Alcatraz, as well as the menacing water-lined 18th hole. Imagine needing to make par-par on two of the toughest finishing holes in golf to win a PGA TOUR tournament or to earn the coveted PGA TOUR card!
Named “Stadium” thanks to Dye’s ingenious plan to sculpt spectator seating into the natural terrain, many historic moments in golf have occurred here, including Lee Trevino’s unforgettable hole-in-one on Alcatraz. This won him a carry-over Skin worth $175,000 in the 1987 made-for-TV “Skins Game,” hosted at PGA WEST from 1986-1991.
The Stadium Course plays host to The American Express™, a highly anticipated, charitable PGA Tour event held annually in January. The Stadium is also host course for the PGA TOUR “Q-School” Finals every other year.
Golf course architect Tim Liddy, who boasts nearly three decades of experience working with the legendary Dye, is helming a phased restoration of course.
Pete Dye Mountain Course
The Mountain Course, nestled at the base of the picturesque Santa Rosa Mountains, is famed for its Pete Dye design, playability and stunning visuals. This ultra-challenging course features pot bunkers, rock formations, elevations of tee boxes and well-bunkered greens.
Pete Dye Dunes Course
The visual drama of the landscape and the sheer beauty of the desert showcase the Dunes Course which is situated at the foot of the Santa Rosa Mountains. Pete Dye added a twist to the traditional Scottish approach for this links-style course. It favors accuracy from the tee and rewards carefully executed approach shots to its well-guarded greens.
Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course
Challenge, beauty and drama permeate every Jack Nicklaus-designed course, and this masterful design is no exception. Around every corner you will find a new challenge, including the rare feature of two island greens. At 7,204 yards long, The Nicklaus Tournament Course has a stroke rating of 75.3 and a slope rating of 143.
A true ball strikers’ golf course, The Nicklaus Tournament along with the Stadium Course is the bi-annual host of the PGA TOUR’s final round of Q-School, which is attended by some of the best players in the world. Nicknamed by Members as the Nick Tourney, it is both very forgiving off the tee and extremely demanding around the greens. Without a doubt, a “must play” for not only a great test of golf, but for its magnificent desert setting.
Greg Norman Course
The newest course at PGA WEST and the only Greg Norman-designed golf course in the Coachella Valley is aptly described as being very “challenging but fair.” Sporting only 68 acres of lush manicured turf, 102 white crushed marble bunkers and shark blue water coming into play on 9 holes, this 7,200-yard course offers a truly “Outback” experience that will entice you back time and time again.
Resting in a prehistoric ocean bed 40-feet below sea level and surrounded by an immense crescent of terra cotta mountains, the course teems with purple, white and yellow wildflowers, while the mix of tall and short native grasses produce different shades of green running almost to silver. The grass covers just 60 acres of tight fairways that taper toward the greens with nine ponds blanketing 18 acres. The demands of this target-style course are a challenge for players of all levels.
