About Melanie
Melanie Jones grew up constantly moving, so when people ask “where are you from,” a lengthy answer ensues. She learned how to make friends fast, find the best place to buy an ice cream cone, and how to pack a drawer to find even the smallest trinket when unpacking in the new house. Walking into a new school was never easy, but it taught Melanie a lot about herself and other people while also creating a love for travel and new places. She has lived in three countries and six states but has called Raleigh home for the past 18 years.
Melanie believes a home is your nest and your nest egg. By listening to clients’ needs and wants, and balancing them with market knowledge and analyses, Melanie guides her clients to make informed choices. Being part of the emotional and financial decisions involved in home buying is second nature to Melanie. Whether it is negotiating a contract or showing a property, Melanie works tenaciously for her clients. With an extensive list of expert service providers, she is able to get even the most complicated deals from contract to the closing table. She has been a Realtor for seven years and was in advertising prior to the career switch. Knowing how to communicate and relate to people is Melanie’s biggest asset.
Melanie came to Raleigh with her Tar Heel husband, Greg, from New York City via Richmond. He was called as the fourth rector of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in 2004. She is frequently told she does not seem like a clergy spouse which is proven by her irreverent humor and her pew location in the back left side of the church. Melanie was excited to be part of a mid-size, growing city but the real draw to the area was to ACC sports. She played lacrosse at Brown University and was team captain as well as an All-Ivy and All-America selection multiple years. She is consistently a leader and team player you want on your side. Since the Ivy League does not get much television coverage, she will go to any UNC game on any day she can get a ticket.
Melanie volunteers with her church and started a bi-annual women’s retreat with national speakers known as The Gathering. She serves on the parent’s admissions team at Saint Mary’s School and is on the board of the Brown Alumni Group of the Triangle. She is an avid tennis player and has recently given up running for an obsession with her Peloton. Melanie and her husband live in Five Points with their three teenage daughters and rescue dog.
