This stunning links-type course plays through dense Lowcountry forest as well as open scenic wetlands, offering unobstructed views of Port Royal Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. The Pete Dye Course at Colleton River is uniquely different from the Nicklaus Course, featuring small undulating greens that are well protected by pot bunkers. The only course of it’s kind in the southeast, the Dye Course plays host to major tournaments like the South Carolina Amateur, US Amateur Qualifier, US Open Qualifier and the 2015 US Junior Amateur Tournament. With a mix of challenge and beauty, it is no wonder that Academy Award-Winner, Robert Redford chose the Dye Course to film pivotal and iconic scenes of his movie, “The Legend of Bagger Vance”. The course was restored during the Summer of 2016, and is now more spectacular than ever.
The Jack Nicklaus Golf Experience
Regarded by golf legends as one of the finest 18 holes in the game, the Nicklaus Course at Colleton River strikes an exceptional balance between challenge and playability. Nicklaus tempts you throughout, providing glimpses of the marsh on the front nine before finishing the round in dramatic fashion exposed to the winds and scenic vistas provided by the Colleton River. Measuring over 7,100 yards from the tips, this course was called “Best New Private Course in America” in 1993 by Golf Digest. In the Fall of 2017, the Nicklaus Course underwent a remarkable restoration unearthing its original classic Lowcountry beauty. This superbly conditioned course rewards players of all levels who have a genuine appreciation for the purity of the game.
Bruce Borland 6-hole Par 3
The Bruce Borland Par 3 Course is a 6 hole executive course. Woven throughout the Practice Park, the course offers every bit as much of the lush landscaping as the Nicklaus Course with the precision of the Dye Course. This walking course was recently renovated and features wooded areas, freshwater lagoons and native wildlife. The Borland Course rounds out the world-class golf options at Colleton River.
A Course For All
The Borland Par 3 is ideal for improving your chipping and putting game. For those who want a real game of golf but don’t have time for 18 holes, this course is perfect. Additionally, it’s an excellent course for introducing newcomers to the game. Children and grandchildren enjoy the pace and duration of this course.
