Greensboro, North Carolina
Since its 1925 inception, Sedgefield Country Club has gratified and continued to foster Greensboro’s passion for golf. This purpose has evolved to encompass active lifestyles from the tennis court to spin class, and our commitment to the longevity of the sport allows the club to flourish.
Our golf courses feature two compelling layouts from architect greats Donald Ross and Pete Dye. Sedgefield Country Club is in fact, the only property in the country to couple courses from these two legends. The Ross course is an exquisite design with small, undulating greens and rolling fairways that create a challenge for the expert player, yet offer fun for the beginner. Ranked 13th in North Carolina and hosting the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship, our members take great pride in calling it home. A short drive North, the Dye course offers and equitable test for golfers of all skill levels with its two lakes and meandering creeks that add both beauty and challenges to the course. While enjoying either course, you’ll notice the pure golf experience in the condition of the greens, the welcoming and encouraging atmosphere and the attention to detail our staff provides from the front door to the finishing hole. Better course conditions, variety and pace of play in the Triad are hard to come by.
Beyond golf, our family-focused property includes active junior programs coupled with state-of-the-art fitness and aquatic facilities for the whole family to enjoy. The Sedgefield clubhouse hosts themed dinners, banquets, corporate events and elegant weddings in old world yet tastefully modern dining areas. Our inventive Executive Chef never ceases to amaze whether breathing new life into age-old favorites or presenting worldly new flavors.
McConnell Golf membership affords you and your family access to the most exclusive network of private golf and country clubs in the region. Our promise of “pure golf for the true golfer” is a daily commitment to unrivaled excellence from courteous, professional staff to unsurpassed course conditions.
“One of the misnomers out there regarding private club membership is that some people do not want to play the same golf course and over again. At Sedgefield, members enjoy two very different 18-hole layouts and also have reciprocal access to eleven other McConnell Golf properties – it’s a win-win!”
– McConnell Golf Triad Membership Director Chad Flowers
Sedgefield’s Ross Course, home of the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship, has enjoyed a steady climb in the North Carolina Golf Panel annual rankings over the past few years. The NC Golf Panel awards the Ross course its number #13 spot among the top 100 courses in the state. Rising from #22 only a few years ago, this recognition reflects our commitment to providing our membership with the very best experience.
With a reputation as a formidable test, the Dye Course offers some of the most rewarding play in Greensboro. Its modern, 140-acre layout designed by Pete Dye is a par-70 that meanders along a countryside stream, over two lakes and through wooded glades. Formerly known as Cardinal Golf and Country Club, the course was restored to its original layout and lengthened in 2006 when brought under McConnell Golf ownership. A number of holes feature Dye’s signature railroad ties including number 12, as he called it after the restoration, “the hardest par three I ever designed.” The course is home to the Cardinal Amateur each year, which is one of the country’s most esteemed amateur events.
The Donald Ross course at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC opened for play in 1926. Since that time it has fueled Greensboro’s passion for golf and attracted tournament play to the Triad. The par-71 course offers five sets of tees to offer fun and challenge to golfers of all skill levels. It is home to the Wyndham Championship, and the only Donald Ross designed course in the country to host a regular event on the PGA Tour.
