Hickory has been my home for most of my life, and I’ve enjoyed watching it grow and change over the years. One of my favorite spots is our newly renovated downtown—full of charming shops, restaurants, and events (www.downtownhickory.com). Whether you’re strolling through the seasonal farmers’ market, dancing at Hickory Alive, or enjoying the excitement of Oktoberfest, there’s always something happening—and many events are free! We’re also proud of our City Walk River Walk and Aviation Walk which offer scenic paths perfect for walking or biking. And if you’re a baseball fan, don’t miss a game at our beautiful stadium, home of the Hickory Crawdads. Hickory has earned the title of “All-American City” three times, and in May 2022, U.S. News & World Report ranked us No. 1 in “Most Affordable Places to Live” and No. 31 in “Best Places to Live in the United States.” If you ever come to visit, I’d love to be your personal guide!
