Key Largo, Florida
It’s not only what you see that sets us apart from other private membership clubs. Although with extensive real estate options, 36 holes of golf, a salon and spa, more than a dozen restaurants, a 175-slip marina, a private airport, and so much more, we are in a league of our own. What truly separates our Key Largo club is our unique lifestyle. For sixty years, generations of Ocean Reef Club members have grown up with the shared values that make life so rewarding. This is a place where we can be ourselves – a place where privacy is paramount, security is assured, and family comes first.
Our private club’s Florida setting enriches our pleasure. Our exclusive amenities keep us constantly entertained.
But it’s the sense of belonging that makes life at Ocean Reef Club so unique.
As one of America’s most exclusive club communities, an Ocean Reef Club membership is as rewarding and luxurious as it is relaxing and peaceful. Our Members enjoy The Reef’s exceptional recreation choices, its abundant natural beauty and the opportunities club membership affords them to relax in privacy with family and friends. In equal measure they value what they don’t find. Undisturbed by crowds and clamor, this is a peaceful place.
Above all, our Members cherish their sense of connection to The Reef. More than a club, this is a community of individuals who share an affinity for the rewarding lifestyle here. Over the decades, Ocean Reef Club has quietly acquired international acclaim for its privacy and pristine nature. The Robb Report has described it as “one of America’s most exclusive club communities.”
To preserve the special nature of The Reef, club membership is by invitation only. Invitations are extended to individuals who value a community that rewards their success and satisfies their quest for a rich and meaningful lifestyle.
As golf clubs go, the Ocean Reef Club’s traditions go back more than half a century to 1955, when the first 9-hole course opened. Today the Club boasts two championship 18-hole courses – a rarity in the Florida Keys even among standard golf clubs.
Although the Hammock Course and the Dolphin Course offer distinctly different tests of golf, both feature scenic vistas and an enjoyable challenge for players of all levels.
The Hammock Course is partially situated in a wildlife sanctuary of mangrove and tropical hardwood hammocks and contains many rare and endangered species of plants for players to observe and enjoy. This ocean golf course is considered the more scenic of the Club’s courses and is a true test of target golf. With fairways meandering through this natural hammock and with water hazards on fourteen of the eighteen holes, concentration becomes key to a good round. This par-71 course is 6,100 yards in length and offers a magnificent collection of memorable holes.
The Dolphin Course features fairways winding past tamarind, coconut palms and mahogany trees as well as other exotic landscaping. This is the epitome of island golf in the Keys. Glittering water hazards delight the eye and call for accuracy. This island golf course allows more margin for error off the tee, with quite generous fairways. The real test on this 6,600 yard par-71 course arrives when you get to the greens.
These large, undulating greens require careful reads to avoid the dreaded three-putt. Club selection, allowing you to get close to the flagsticks, is very important on your approach.
At Ocean Reef Club, abundant natural beauty and an array of recreation choices create wonderful opportunities for families to relax and have fun together. The Club’s privacy and security provide a worry-free world for parents, where children spend hours in the sand and shallows of Buccaneer Island’s lagoon, easily supervised as Mom and Dad relax on the beach. Teens, who can earn an Ocean Reef golf cart driver’s license, enjoy the freedom of being off with their friends, safe and protected and never more than a few minutes’ drive from their families.
Just a few ideas for family-friendly activities include aquatic sports at Buccaneer Island, fishing and boat charters or miniature golf. For an inspiring outing, stop by the Nature Center or sign up for one of our nature programs. Or, how about some fun playground activities or a trip to one of Key Largo’s amazing local attractions?
At Ocean Reef, children have their own Reef Club Kids program plus a fun night camp with dinner. And even the Club’s Cooking School has classes designed for the budding young chef.
Miniature Golf – A 9-hole miniature golf course provides fun for both golfers and non-golfers of all ages.
Basketball Court – Basketballs are available at the court, located next to the playground.
Dining at Ocean Reef Club presents the pleasant dilemma of choosing among a dozen restaurants and lounges. This enticing collection offers you a variety of waterfront vistas, including the ocean, lagoon or pools. Rivaling the tropical views is a delicious choice of cuisine–everything from elegant dining to refreshing tropical drinks poolside or freshly grilled fare under the palms.
From the seaside elegance of the Islander to the casual atmosphere in the Raw Bar to the lively vibe at the Burgee Bar, dining is a highlight at Ocean Reef Club. You’ll always find a spot to satisfy your appetite and match your mood, and when you prefer to dine in privacy, our catering team is eager to provide service to any lodging accommodation at Ocean Reef Club for an everyday meal or special occasion.
Frequent host to yachts arriving from far-away places, Ocean Reef Club’s private marina offers levels of service captains expect from a private yacht club when they enter large international sailing ports. Lest we forget, our members and their guests are often the ones returning from those far-away places. Or maybe you’re coming home from an hour or two out where a big one tested your rod, your line and your pride. Or maybe you’ve just spent the afternoon diving on the only living coral reef in American waters. Or maybe you’ve discovered you’re not carrying one of the local charts. Whatever you and your vessel may need, it’s here at the ORC Marina—with berthing for 175 boats and superb accommodations available only steps away. Like everything else at Ocean Reef Club, we take great pride in the hospitality and service you’ll receive at our private marina.
