Our Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed par 71 golf course was built around a 20-acre nature preserve and is one of the few walkable courses in the area. Dick Erick, Golf Professional Emeritus, describes the course as, “This creation of Robert Trent Jones, Jr. is totally unique to Southwest Florida. The playing characteristics of the course incorporate strategy and finesse. One major design feature of the golf course is its versatility. The design of the tee complexes have up to 7 or 8 different tee locations. This helps create not only the variety of yardages but also many different angle changes to the holes. The most consistent comment from our members and guests is they never get tired of playing the course.”

The Naples, Fla. property plans to extensively refurbish existing facilities along with adding several new member amenities, including a 150-seat outdoor dining area, in conjunction with the club’s 25th anniversary. The project is expected to be completed by January 2019.
Kensington Golf & Country Club in North Naples, Fla., is moving forward with a multimillion-dollar renovation and expansion in conjunction with the club’s 25th anniversary, reported the Naples Daily News.
The $3.5 million construction project includes the addition of several new member amenities as well as a complete refurbishment of certain existing facilities. Work is expected to begin this summer and is scheduled for completion in January 2019, reported theDaily News.
Included in the renovation plans is a new 150-seat outdoor dining area designed by Naples architect David Humphrey. The building will boast an island-style architecture, including a full kitchen, bar area and fire pit with water feature. It also will provide resort-style food-and-beverage service for those using the club’s nearby pool area, reported the Daily News.
“Our surveys showed that more than 70 percent of our members wanted more casual outdoor dining options,” said David Krzywonos, the club’s General Manager. “This new amenity will enhance their member experience and enable them to stay on property to enjoy al fresco fine dining here rather than traveling to other popular dining areas [in the Naples area].”
Also included in the renovation plan is a complete refurbishment of the club’s tennis facilities. The seven existing Har-Tru courts will be resurfaced, and four pickleball courts will be added. There also are plans to add two bocce ball courts and a pavilion near the pool area, reported the Daily News.
Kensington G&CC opened in 1994 and the club features a par-71 Robert Trent Jones, Jr. championship golf course that has hosted numerous U.S. Open Qualifiers, most recently in May 2016, reported the Daily News.
The centerpiece of the club is a 30,000-sq. ft. clubhouse offering casual and formal dining, an Olympic-sized heated swimming pool with cabanas, and year-round social activities, along with a full fitness center, reported the Daily News.
Krzywonos noted that the project will not disrupt existing club operations and that the club will remain open throughout the summer. In fact, summer memberships are now being offered, allowing residents and non-residents to enjoy the club’s full golf course facilities, swimming pool, fitness center and clubhouse dining options from May through October, reported the Daily News.
“This extensive renovation project will add a number of features that have long been desired and will make our club more contemporary for current and prospective new members,” said Krzywonos. “We are delighted everything should be ready in time for our silver anniversary.”
