The James River Country Club is a full-service, private club providing golf, tennis and water sports activities, along with banquet and dining facilities for its membership. Located on the banks of the historic James River, the Club was founded in 1932. . A very unique feature of the Club is its world renowned golf museum located in the clubhouse. Many golf artifacts can be found within from the early conception of golf to more recent golf memorabilia. No matter what your interests or hobbies may be, James River Country Club has something for everyone. With a wide variety of events held at the Club, great times and memories are enjoyed throughout the year. From our traditional social calendar to new monthly events, there is always something to do and fun to be had. For families, a babysitting service is available on Friday nights, so that parents can enjoy time at the Club while their children are entertained with dinner and a movie upstairs in the Club’s Board Room. One of the most popular adult social events is the annual Oyster Roast, held at the end of November on the beach. Oysters are served in every way imaginable, as members warm themselves by the fires on the beach. It is a time where families and friends who have come home for the holidays reconnect. The fun then moves inside the ballroom for a late evening of music and dancing .
