Piper’s Landing Yacht & Country Club on Health and Welness
Piper’s Landing Yacht & Country Club, in Palm City, Florida, provides all the amenities you’d expect from a luxury country club in a neighborhood with only 302 residences, nestled among 600 acres of lush, natural preserve areas.
The club’s new, 3,300-square-foot Lifestyle Center features state-of-the art cardio and fitness equipment, aerobics, zumba and yoga classes.
In a relaxing atmosphere, members also can unwind by letting the club’s Professional Massage Therapist pamper them with one of the offered massages.
Among the thousands of Golf Life Navigators’ ProGuide3 questionnaires that have been completed by potential new club members, the importance of Health and Wellness is among the top reasons they’ve identified in looking for a new club in the Sun Belt. So we asked Pegi Austin, the Membership & Marketing Coordinator at Piper’s Landing, to discuss the commitment that the club has made to helping its members enjoy a healthier lifestyle.
Q. How has Piper’s Landing made a commitment to promoting Health and Wellness?
A. Piper’s Landing did a major clubhouse renovation in 2016, which included adding a new Lifestyle Center with state-of-the-art cardio and weight equipment and a separate room for fitness classes such as aerobics, Zumba and yoga. In addition, we have a Massage Therapist who gives a wide range of massages.
Q. What are some of the specifics of the equipment you have in the fitness center/area?
A. All of our equipment is provided by Life Fitness. We have top-of-the line treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes and a row machine. Our most impressive piece of equipment is our SYNRGY360. Our weighted machines range from cables, leg press, chest press, vertical ab machine and free weight plates.
Q. Was this commitment one that you recognized needed to be made, as the public has become more attuned to overall good health?
A. Yes. We realized that a fitness center was needed as prospects that came in to tour the club would ask if our amenities included a fitness center. We also realized that our members were leaving the property to work out. Fitness is now a way of life for many people.
Q. Are there ways that you promote Health and Wellness through the various menu options you offer?
A. Absolutely. Our Executive Chef has added many heart-healthy options to our menus. A number of different, delicious salad options have been added, as well. Weight Watchers recipes are also a new addition to our menus. Anyone with dietary issues can contact our Chef to customize their meal.
Q. Are there particular ways that you promote Health and Wellness to Club members age 60 and over?
A. Yes. Some of the most recent seminars we’ve covered are: fall prevention, Meditation/low impact stress relief and heart disease. Along with the seminars, we offer CPR/AED courses and our personal trainers offer Post Rehab/Pre Surgery Cardiovascular program for members preparing for upcoming heart surgery or those in the final stages of rehab after heart surgery.
