Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Governors Club is a nationally-recognized club community built around an award-winning 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course and member-owned country club. We are the Triangle’s only gated golf community and private club.
Chapel Hill is home to the University of North Carolina (UNC) and Governors Club, a 1,600-acre gated community. The area, called “The Triangle,” also includes Durham, home of Duke University, and Raleigh, the state capitol and location of North Carolina State University. It is one of the most vibrant metropolitan areas in the U.S. and is easily accessible to Governors Club residents.
Governors Club has a strong sense of community – most residents consider this their primary home and join the country club for access to golf, tennis, swimming, a wellness center, dining and more than 400 annual events for adults, children and families.
Members enjoy living “Life at its Best” inside the private residential community. Residents and non-residents are welcome to enjoy the privileges of Club membership. With premier amenities, special events and year-round activities, experience the best recreational and social programs. Members are highly accomplished, yet down-to-earth people with diverse careers and interests. Most have lived in more than one U.S. state and one-third have lived overseas. With all their experience, selecting Governors Club says a lot about the quality of the Club.
A Member-Owned, Professionally-Managed Club:
Taking full advantage of the 1,600 acre property and its varied terrain, the 27-hole course satisfies golfers at all levels. It offers variety, great natural beauty and thoughtful design with three distinct nine-hole courses, the Lakes, Foothills and Mountain. Our four-season climate and mild winters allow year-round play on the championship Jack Nicklaus Signature course.
Golf at Governors Club is designed for casual, social and competitive golfers. There are golf programs for men, women, couples and juniors, as well as a host of special golf events for all levels of play.
With different terrain, each 9-hole course offers its own personality and unique challenges and rewards. As one member says, “You can play here every day and never be bored”. Prestigious golf tournaments hosted include the U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifier (2017 + 2015), U.S. Open Qualifiers (2014 + 2008), the North Carolina Men’s Amateur Championship (2016) and The Carolina Golf Association’s 105th Carolinas Amateur Championship (2019).
Our airport (RDU) offers nonstop flights to over 50 destinations including San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angles and even London and Paris. There are 400 flights per day and the airport is served by 11 scheduled airlines as well as charters. Terminals are modern and parking is easy. All of it is less than half an hour from Governors Club!
Governors Club is minutes from Interstate 40, a major artery connecting to I-85 and I-95. With its central location (Governors Club is about midway between Boston and Miami), it is easy to drive anywhere on the East Coast or have friends stop by to see you when they travel. Within North Carolina, Governors Club is almost equidistant from the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Atlantic Coast beaches and Outer Banks.
College towns have a lot to offer – a stimulating intellectual environment, college sports and more. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke and North Carolina State University each offer undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs. All three field NCAA Division I teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) – one of the most competitive in the U.S.
Some college towns also have good medical facilities, but Governors Club is just minutes from TWO of the finest teaching and research hospitals in the U.S. – UNC and Duke. They are not just good, but great — offering some of the best care in both adult and pediatric specialties.
Few cities have resources like these and even fewer golf course and residential communities offer the quality or quantity of education and healthcare resources available to Governors Club residents.
