Golf at Golf Club of Houston

The Club was founded in 2003. The Club has two 18 hole courses that have both hosted the Houston Open. The members only course was designed by John Hardy and Peter Jacobsen. The Tournament Course open to both members and the public was designed by Rees Jones and David Toms. Rees is know as the “Open Doctor” as he has renovated many US Open tournament sites. David Toms is a very accomplished Tour veteran, having won 13 tour events including the 2001 PGA Championship.

Members Course

The ever-changing subtleties, the constant unpredictabilities and the whims of The Spirit of the Game make each round on the Jacobsen/Hardy Member Course a fresh challenge and a new opportunity to enjoy the sport in its purest expression.

Excellent course conditions, breathtaking vistas, challenging play and uncompromising privacy are the signature characteristics of Golf Club of Houston’s Member Course.

The Member Course is a par 72, 7,508-yard championship golf course highlighted by native wetland flora and fauna. A variety of challenges, degrees of difficulty, creative tee placements, and shot options keep the course fresh each time our members set out to conquer it.

The strategic bunkering, manicured fairways and smooth, true greens echo our belief in a refined level of play that is enjoyable for all skill levels. PGA TOUR Professionals who played the Member Course during the 2003, 2004 and 2005 Shell Houston Open gave nothing but praise.

Tournament Course

The Tournament Course hosts the Houston Open, where the world’s top players vie for excellence on the Rees Jones/David Toms-designed course. As enjoyable to play as it is beautiful, this course has abundant native plants and wildlife. There is a sense of serenity and solitude unique for a course that is mere minutes from downtown Houston.

Amid the finely groomed fairways, the well-engineered greens and the challenging bunkers, you can almost hear the echoes of the PGA TOUR Professionals inviting you to have fun, encouraging you to compete and inspiring you to improve your game.

Step onto the tee box with Singh or Couples. Face Scott or Appleby and enjoy the rare combination of professional quality and beauty of this course.

The Academy at Golf Club of Houston

Private Instruction

The instructors at The Academy are experienced in teaching all skill levels and all ages. An individual lesson can be catered to your needs. You get to choose to hit inside the bay on a monitor, outside on the range, greenside bunkers, fairway bunkers, or take advantage of our many short game ares. An individual lesson is the perfect way to take your game to the next level.

Junior Programs

The Academy offers a robust junior program that follows the guidelines of the US Kids Program. Clinics are offered each week after school and on the weekend to fit your scheduling needs. Each week your golfer will learn about their full swing, short game, rules and etiquette.

Fitting Center

The Golf Club of Houston Fitting Center is here to offer you a comprehensive evaluation to precisely fit you into your new custom fit golf clubs. Offering a Tour level experience using Trackman launch monitor data for full swing and SAM Putt Lab for putting, the Golf Club of Houston Fitting Center will use fitting resources from the top manufactures in the game to optimize your new clubs. To fully understand the looks, sounds, feel and performance of each specific club, we are able to use an in-to-out hitting bay complemented with a full grass tee so that every one of the golf balls you hit during your session will be seen in full flight, using premium 3 piece practice balls.
