Nestled at the base of Pinnacle Peak with the serenity of the Sonoran Desert is the perfect setting for the first Jack Nicklaus desert golf course design. But golf isn’t everything at Desert Highlands… there are 13 tennis courts with grass, clay and hard surfaces, a 7,000 square foot state-of-the-art fitness center and an award-winning Clubhouse that embodies the never to formal, never too casual, relaxed ambience of this world-class residential community.
Golf isn’t everything at Desert Highlands… But if it were, for many that would be enough.
For many, the highlight of membership at Desert Highlands is the ability to play the acclaimed course designed by Jack Nicklaus. Accolades for the Desert Highlands golf course have included being ranked as one of the top desert golf courses in the country by Golf Digest. Yet first proof that this course was something extraordinary occurred almost immediately after it was completed. Desert Highlands was the site of the first two Skins Games in 1983 and 1984. When you play this course you walk in the footsteps of Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Gary Player.
Even as you feel the atmosphere of legends around you Nicklaus designed this course to invite players of all levels to enjoy the challenge, while also savoring a setting that is nothing less than magnificent. Pinnacle Peak looms just overhead and the lights of the Valley spread across the horizon in the distance below.
A dramatic elevated tee box on the first hole sets the tone on this 18-hole, par 72 golf course that plays 7,108 yards from the tips. To enhance the desert effect, turf has been used judiciously which has resulted in a “target golf” concept. With major desert areas abutting the fairways and greens, the turf limitation only heightens the visual drama of the course. The result is reminiscent of a soft-flowing green carpet draped across rugged land forms.
The best tennis in North Scottsdale is at Desert Highlands!
It isn’t just about where you live, it’s about how you live.
The art of approaching every moment as one of life’s best is a way of life at Desert Highlands. All in the shadow of a natural wonder called, of course, Pinnacle Peak. There is a kind of peace in the Sonoran Desert that permeates your being, that makes you feel welcome. It is much the same with Desert Highlands. Often one of the most difficult choices to make in life is deciding where to live. Desert Highlands makes that choice a lot easier.
Another thing that makes Desert Highlands so attractive isn’t even inside the gated, 24-hour security patrolled community. It is the wide array of stores, restaurants, cultural events and medical facilities that are literally within minutes of the gates. A little further are the galleries and charm of Old Town Scottsdale to the south or Carefree to the north, and the cultural districts and sports arenas of downtown Phoenix.
