About Susanne
Susanne spent her first 16 years in different African countries, accompanying her father who was a field doctor with the World Health Organization. She graduated high school in Spain and earned her French and Spanish degrees at the Sorbonne in Paris on an exchange program with Tulane University, New Orleans. She is fluent in English, German and French, and conversational in Spanish.
After a successful 20-year corporate career in Europe, she decided to move to California where she would own and manage her own boutique retail businesses for seven years. She learned to love real estate when she met and later married her late husband, who was a successful agent in Idyllwild, California. She passed her license and served friends and family while operating her retail businesses but returned to the corporate fold when asked to become the Director of Operations for a family-owned manufacturing company in Orange County…
Q&A With Susanne
How long have you been selling real estate in Southern California?
I was licensed in 2005 while working a corporate career and decided to turn a part-time passion into a full-time career in 2016 – I still consider it the best move I ever made!
Do you believe that for real estate agents to be successful in golf sales they need to play the game regularly?
One does not necessarily have to be a low-handicap player but playing regularly and demonstrating knowledge about local courses and their surrounding communities are benefits successful agents should offer their clients – especially in a golf-centric area like San Diego! Playing with your clients and enjoying your shared passion is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships, and it helps to play reasonably well … which – as we know – only comes with practice!
What is one thing that you feel is important for any real estate agent to know when working with a golf centric buyer?
Golfing clients are very passionate about the game and often like to live close to their favorite course. It is especially important to understand the role golf plays in their lives and what their ideal club looks like. This also means addressing the needs of spouses, significant others or family members, as these sometimes differ from the golfing partner. Finding the perfect balance is paramount for satisfied clients and a successful transaction.
How have you used your “Golf Certification” logo and branding to your advantage in 2021?
With the Golf Certification, I find that clients are more confident that they are working with an agent who speaks the same language – golf! Choosing the best suited real estate agent out of thousands can be overwhelming and it helps to have an instant connection and level of trust that the client’s needs are understood.
How is inventory and pricing levels in your market? Do you sense any changes coming?
Inventory in the San Diego area continues to be critically low and the market is still breaking records, month after month. While experts are predicting more homes hitting the market due to the end of the Federal Eviction Moratorium and slight increases in interest rates, demand still far outpaces supply. We are expecting to gear up to an unusually strong fall and another hot spring market.
